Do you feed your dogs peanut butter?

If you are feeding your dog Peanut Butter, beware!

Xylitol is a sugar substitute that is being used in many Sugar-free Peanut Butters (as well as gum and other products), and it can be life-threatening to your dog!

Some popular brands of Peanut Butter that contain Xylitol are listed below (may not be a complete list):

  • Go Nuts Co.
  • Krush Nutrition
  • Nuts ‘N More
  • P28 Foods
  • Protein Plus PB
Xylitol can cause life-threatening Low Blood Sugar and even Liver Damage in dogs.  Symptoms can begin within 30 minutes and include vomiting, diarrhea, incoordination, collapse, and seizures.  Liver failure can show up in 8-12 hours.  Speedy and appropriate emergency treatment is needed to try to reverse the toxic effects.
Please be sure to check the ingredient list of Peanut Butter before feeding even a small amount to your dog!
