Background info for Helpful Questions Section

The use of pointed questions is often the best means to arrive at truth and understanding. Socrates understood this, lawyers and judges understand this, and at Veremedy we, too, understand the value of a good question. It is often said that a little bit of knowledge is necessary in order to form an intelligent question. In this section we provide a group of helpful questions on a variety of subjects. The answers are by no means meant to be exhaustive nor definitive. Rather, they are designed to stimulate more questions and to be used as a starting point for further inquiry. Under each topic there are questions, answers, and brief notes on the reasoning behind the answers.

The list of topics is set up alphabetically for ease of navigation. We will start with just a few topics and then add new topics regularly. The old topics will also be updated as new information becomes available. As always, the Veremedy Team will scrutinize the best available information to use as a basis for the answers to the questions. When we become more technologically savvy, we hope to have a link to the actual journal article or information source that was used to formulate the answers and reasoning.

A brief word on controversy: we believe that a healthy, spirited, and civil debate on issues is helpful for the profession of veterinary medicine and a pretty good idea for society in general. When a certain topic is controversial we will try to point that out. Questioning the status quo is the hallmark of how good science starts. Often the answer to one question provides the basis for the next question. To deny human nature’s propensity toward this constant questioning is unhealthy. We are all descended from a line of humans that embraced research and change. Were it not so, we would still be living in caves, eating raw meat for dinner.
